Vertical Integration and Quality

Cortec® is seeking to make its wide range of corrosion solutions more accessible as plants, distribution facilities, offices, and distributors increase globally. Specialized plants allow Cortec® to produce specific product categories while vertically integrating in order to deliver quality corrosion inhibiting options.

• Cortec® Coated Products (CCP) in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA, produces high quality VpCI® coated papers that offer many simple customized, biobased, and often recyclable packaging solutions to corrosion problems. Cortec® uses its own water-based coating to create nitrite-free paper products that provide an easy layer of corrosion protection to metal parts. CCP is an important VpCI® paper industry leader with paper coating capabilities nearing 100 inches (2.5 meters) wide for large format packaging and corrosion protection needs.

• Cortec® Advanced Films (CAF) in Cambridge, Minnesota, USA, is the world’s largest plant for production of VpCI® films and bags with a nameplate capacity of more than 40 million pounds (20,000 MT). Its location in downtown Cambridge, Minnesota, USA, leaves it excellently situated with rail service in the heart of the North American continent. This unique plant is fully integrated with its own compounding, extrusion, converting, printing, and plastic recycling services. CAF continues to upgrade its lines with state-of-the art equipment to produce high quality film and bags at widths up to 30 feet (9.1 m).

• EcoCortec®, located in Beli Manastir, Croatia, produces co-extruded VpCI® film and bags and also offers VpCI® film recycling services to its customers. The European plant broke ground in 2017 for a new production hall opening in November 2018 to meet increasing demand for VpCI® packaging products. EcoCortec® is also a partner in the €1.95 million European BIOCOMPACK project, whose goal is to prevent the hazardous environmental impact of conventional plastic materials discarded in the environment and promote sustainability and innovative technologies.

Beyond Packaging Solutions

In addition to packaging, Cortec’s wide variety of corrosion inhibiting solutions include time-tested general VpCI® and MCI® Technology for use in effectively any industry that battles rust. Cortec® continues to grow as a specialty chemical company committed to finding more environmentally friendly solutions for its customers. Cortec® began this journey by offering organic corrosion inhibiting chemistries at a time most companies still relied on inorganic chemistries. Cortec® moved on to its second technological platform with the introduction of biodegradable and biobased building blocks and now offers a growing portfolio of USDA certified biobased products. Cortec® reached its third technological platform and entered the most elite group of specialty chemical companies with the acquisition of Bionetix® International of Montreal, Canada, and the inception of Cortec® Biotechnology Campus in Sarasota, Florida. By integrating state-of-the art biotechnology, Cortec® now offers natural biological products that are used in countless applications globally. These products enhance the bioremediation of waste systems, the natural power of cleaners, and the health of livestock. As it continues to expand its diverse technological portfolio, Cortec® is eager to help you find the best solution for your corrosion needs.
