CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #172: Tarnish Protection of Euro Blanks

A European mint was having trouble with tarnish on copper plated mild steel coin blanks while using VCI film from a Cortec® competitor. Although VpCI®-126 Bags had already been tested and found to provide complete tarnish protection, the mint had opted for cheaper bags that were supposedly equivalent. However, the mint soon faced complaints about tarnish during storage in Germany. They decided to switch to Cortec® packaging to eliminate tarnish and began using VpCI®-126 Bags to line crates of Euro blanks before shipment over land and sea to Germany for storage.
